Gutter Cleaning
Hand-cleaned gutters and downspouts with a flow test before we leave, critical before hurricane season.
Clogged gutters are the single most common cause of preventable water damage in Hampton Roads homes. Mature oak and maple trees in Ghent, Colonial Place, and Great Neck fill gutters with leaves and seed pods every fall; pine pollen and tassels gum them up again every spring. When gutters back up, water gets behind fascia boards, soffits rot, and basements and crawl spaces flood.
Tidewater Handyman Services cleans gutters by hand, not with a leaf blower from the ground. We bag and remove the debris, flush every downspout to confirm flow, and tighten or re-seat any sections that have pulled away from the fascia. We also inspect for rust-through, separated joints, and missing splash blocks while we are up there.
We especially recommend a cleaning before hurricane season (June 1) and again after leaf drop (late November). Many clients put us on a twice-yearly schedule.
